The Latino Empowerment Outreach Network (LEON) is a collaboration of agencies, professionals, and advocates dedicated to serving the Latino community. LEON is a non- profit organization, composed of various committees where the majority of the work is carried out. One of our committees, the Education Committee, is holding an educational evening for Latino parents and students. This event is being planned with the support of the Dublin City Schools and will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Scioto High School, 4000 Hard Road, Dublin, OH. It includes recognitions for those students of good character who have demonstrated leadership traits in their school or community. In addition, we will have food, prizes, and information about services within the community.
Last year we recognized forty students and had more than three-hundred people in attendance. This year we expect to recognize the same number of students and create a Hispanic/Latino student scholarship fund. We are soliciting donations from area businesses for prizes, program, refreshments and scholarship. If your business is interested in donating to this event we would greatly appreciate your donation. All donations would be recognized as donated from your establishment in the event program.
